I made this quick quilt for a friend who is coming for a visit next week. I really like Civil War reproduction prints and I think the half-square triangles are a nice pattern for displaying them.

I added an overhead lightbar to my Gammill. Using parts from Home Depot, it came up to about $160. The one offered by Gammill is abut $800, but I'm cheap. I really like all the extra light now!

Here's a closer view of the vintage quilt top that I made into a quilt.

Here are pics of another vintage quilt top that I recently made into a quilt. The top was made (all hand-pieced) by Mary Susan (Weathers) Senter, and she was born in 1843 and died in 1937 at age 93. She married Robert Winthrop Senter in 1861 when she was 18. So the top predates at least 1937. This is one of about a dozen tops that belonged to a couple that I'm good friends with (he's the grandson of Mary Susan Senter). I've been making quilts from the tops for them and they told me to pick out a top that I liked and quilt it for myself. So I picked this one. It measures 84" x 72", so it is a nice size. I quilted this on my longarm using a pantograph pattern called "Chantilly Lace".

Here's a detail image of that first quilt that I did on my new longarm.

Here's a pic of my first quilt that I did on my new longarm. I just did a meandering pattern to kind of get a feel for how to do it. It was fun! The quilt measures 62" x 72" and was made from a jelly roll of "Wildflower Serenade II" fabric by Kansas Troubles. I wanted to make a quick and easy top to test the waters with in case I messed it up. But it all went well.
  8. I'm loving it! I loaded my first quilt top this evening and quilted the entire thing in a couple of hours. Wow! This is fun!

My Gammill Premier 18" longarm came today. He set it up this evening and is coming back in the morning to train me on it. I'm pretty excited.
